 28th of November, 1940. The English Channel 


Flight Lieutenant John Dundas of No. 609 squadron shot down Major Helmut Wick in air combat over the English channel, south of the Isle of Wight. Wick, the Geschwaderkommodore of JG 2, was Germany's current highest scoring ace of the war at the time with 56 kills to his credit. 


Major Wick was seen to parachute from his Messerschmitt and drift towards the water but his body was never recovered. 




By a cruel twist of fate, on the day that he died, Major Wick was pictured standing with Hermann Gรถring on the front cover of the Berlin magazine Illustrirte Zeitung.

Terrible torture museum.

 Terrible  torture museum. I had the pleasure of visiting Prague this weekend, and walking past the "Torture Museum" instantly grabbed my attention.  For all my adult life I've had a huge interest in history, but the macabre side of history has always fascinated me. Which I guess bleeds over into the psychology of how and why people can do what they do to each other. Prague torture museum (although pretty small) is certainly fascinating, filled with information and examples of the ways people have inflicted pain on one another. Sometimes the pain is self inflicted in order to prevent greater harm from others.  The chastity belt is a prime example of this. Most people, including myself, think the chastity belt was forced upon women by their husbands to ensure they were faithful whilst the husband was away crusading. An hour later, a young handsome man drove in Ferrari to the girls house.  Good evening, the man greeted... Your daughter told me the prรธblem in the house. I can't marry for now because of my family issues, but I promise I will take care of her for the rest of her life, and if she gives birth to a girl, I promised to buy her a mansion, 2 jeeps and 1million dollars. If it's a boy, I 'll buy her houses in a country side, 5 jeeps, 2 big factories and 5 million dollars in her account. If it's twins, I 'll do anything she asked.
