Enrico Toti was born in Rome on August 20, 1882, being the son of a railway worker. Aged 14, Toti enlisted in the Italian Navy in 1896 and was involved in clashes with Eritrean pirates in the Red Sea in 1904. In 1905, Toti left the Navy and joined his father for work on the railways instead. . On March 2, 1908, Enrico Toti became victim of a tragic accident.
