As a young boy, Jason Vukovich was sexually and physically abused by his stepfather. So, when he grew up, he decided to get revenge — by tracking down known sex offenders across Alaska and attacking them with a hammer. As Vukovich put it: "When I was a little kid in my house, if some tatted-up guy would have kicked the door in and beat up the guy that was molesting me, I would have said, 'Yeah! Woo!... Thank God.' Because nobody cared."

Soon, Vukovich became famous as the "Alaskan Avenger" — but he also got himself locked up. After attacking three sex offenders in 2016, he was arrested on the spot near the house of the last man he targeted. Vukovich was later sentenced to 28 years in prison for his actions. And while some campaigned for his release — hailing him as a hero — he remains behind bars.
