Still prevails the practice of Endocannibalism among the Yanomami tribe,

a group of approximately 35,000 indigenous people who live in some 200 to 250 villages in the Amazon rainforest in the border between Venezuela and Brazil.

Endocannibalism is the practice of eating the flesh of dead person from the same community ,tribe or society.

So many bizarre cultures exist in the world,is so very difficult to understand. One of the most primitive tribes in the world continues to practice Endocannibalism as a way to keep it's late loved ones alive.

Not easily influenced by modernisation or westernization, but rather still practice their culture, the Yanomami tribe in South America are also known as Yanam or Senema are a native tribe that believe that the soul needs to be protected after the body dies. They believe that the soul can only rest properly and make its transition only when the body has been burned and the body eaten by the living relatives.

Death for them is not a natural occurrence. They allow the body to decompose by covering them with leaves for about 30 to 45 days. The bones are then collected for cremation ceremony. During the cremation, you can hear them crying or singing for days together.

After the cremation, they collect the ashes for a soup. They believe that consuming the dead ashes keep the deceased 's spirit alive for the next generations. The deceased can't find peace in the spirit world until the family have the soup.

For the soup, the deceased 's ashes mixed with fermented bananas and the soup is filled in a gourd and passed on for the entire community to eat.
