One of Gaikowski's former colleagues claimed that he was the murderer — and that Gaikowski had even invited him to commit violent crimes together. Some researchers say that variations of Gaikowski's name appear in the ciphers that the Zodiac Killer sent to local journalists. And perhaps most notably, Gaikowski was committed to a hospital for going "berserk" just before the killer's letters suddenly stopped. One expert on the case is so convinced of Gaikowski's possible involvement that he said, "If I was an employer looking to hire the Zodiac, he'd probably have the most impressive rรฉsumรฉ in my eyes
