This painting shows Christian pastors burning alive 20 "heretics"

( forcibly converted Hindus who reverted to Hinduism) in Goa. This episode happened during Goa Inquisition.  Francis Xavier was a religious terrorist who murdered thousands of Hindus and also converted many.  He was the 1st to brought torture, violence, intimidation and terror to Goa to force native Indians to convert to Catholic Christians.

Why? Yes,to "save the souls" of heretics.
Burnt along with heretics are the Hindu sacred books in Sanskrit and Marathi. Such paintings are indeed very rare. This "pious" painting was drawn by Portuguese traveler Filippo Sassetti in c.1560.

Rape has been used as a means of torture throughout history. For example, during the Nanking Massacre, Japanese soldiers raped and murdered thousands of Chinese women. Rape is also used as a method to extract confessions from prisoners. Amnesty International found that rape is “routinely” used to force women confess to crimes in Mexican prisons. Prisons in Iran have also been accused of beating and raping their female prisoners, and terrorist organizations like ISIS use rape as a means of torturing women.
